Exotool vs Lovable

Lovable turns a chat into a React application: you describe what you want, a language model writes the code, and the app runs on Lovable's cloud. Exotool also builds from a description, through Claude, but the model never writes your app's code: it edits a diagram, and Exotool's patented engine generates the app from the diagram, the same way every time. You no longer have to work out what was built by reading code: the diagram is a human-readable account of the app, there to examine and to audit.

What describes the appThe generated code (React and TypeScript), plus your chat history. One diagram: the screens, how they connect, and the activities behind them.
Who writes the codeA language model, each time you ask; the output varies from run to run.A patented engine, from the diagram; the same diagram gives the same app.
What you reviewThe generated files, or the running app.The diagram. Claude's change is a change to the diagram, shown in the editor.
Where it runsOn Lovable Cloud; a Supabase back end.In Exotool's sandbox while you build; then on any web-capable hosting platform you choose.
The source codeYours: synced to GitHub on paid plans.Yours: the generated code, deployable where you want.
LeavingYou keep the code; the cloud and database features are Lovable's and Supabase's.Take the code and the database with you. No lock-in.
AIThe model is the builder, paid per message in credits.Claude builds through the Exotool connector; no credits, no metering of messages.
Phones and tabletsA web app on Lovable Cloud; no native mobile build.A progressive web app that runs on iOS and Android alike, installed from the browser; no app-store build. Native iOS apps: in beta.
The databaseReached from the browser through Supabase, with the client key and row-level security policies as the guard; a 2025 scan found 170 of 1,645 Lovable-built apps with exposed tables (CVE-2025-48757).Reached only from the server side the engine generated; the browser is never given a database key.
Pricing (published October 2026)Free (5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month); Pro $25 a month for 100 credits; Business from $50 a month. Extra credits are bought; a simple edit costs about half a credit, a landing page about two.Free (one app); Basic $19 a month (three apps); Pro $49 a month (unlimited). Nothing is metered.

Where Lovable is the better choice

  • You are a developer and want conventional React and TypeScript code you will keep editing by hand.
  • You want the model's freedom: anything that can be coded, in any shape, at the cost of reviewing what it wrote.
  • You want Supabase and Lovable Cloud's managed features (auth, storage, edge functions) without running anything.

Where Exotool is the better choice

  • You want a predictable build: the app is generated from a diagram by an engine, so the same design gives the same app, and the diagram is what you review.
  • You want to use Claude without a credit meter, and to see what it changed at a glance.
  • You want to run the finished app on your own host, with your own database, with no cloud bill tied to the builder.

Try it

Exotool is free to start: one app, the editor, the preview, and the Claude connector. Sign up on the pricing section of the home page, or read how to build an app with Claude: connect it, describe the app you have in mind, and Claude builds a first version you can open on your phone within minutes.
